SPECIAL EVENTS

"I have taken yoga at various times in my life but it was not until Rainey's class that I found it to be hugely beneficial. The specific benefits that she brings are her humor and compassion, her ability to devote attention to every member of the class, and her obvious love for life and the beauty of yoga. Her approach is so lovely and supportive that I find myself able to practice without anxiety about my physical limitations or fear of injury.
I
t would not be an exaggeration to say that her class has completely changed my life. I am able to connect with others in a more compassionate, open-minded way. The stress that is an inherent part of my job is now completely manageable. On the physical side, I am stronger and more flexible than I have ever been and my famously bad posture is much improved. Poses such as handstand that once seemed completely out of reach are available and wonderfully empowering."

The Swell of Spirit:
A Week of Anusara Yoga

April 3 - 10, 2010

Haramara Retreat
Sayulita, Mexico

Our spirits swell and our hearts unfurl in the presence of beauty and grace. With the opening of our hearts we create more space inside us for the Universe to dwell and dance. Here on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, with the ocean singing to us, the sun caressing us, and the wide open sky calling us we will delve into the vast capacity of our hearts. We will investigate the power of asana, pranayama and meditation, as well as community, good food and deep relaxation. Each day will include two yoga sessions, three delicious meals and time to explore the splendor around us and inquire into the radiance within. Saturdays will be our travel days. Please join me for this annual sojourn of the heart. Open to all levels. Partners and children welcome.

Haramara Retreat is one of the most inspiring places I have ever visited. They offer a tranquil, secluded and beautiful setting in which to delve into yoga and nature as a spiritual practice. The yoga space is an open-air palapa with 360-degree views of the ocean and rain forest with a constant breeze. Our accommodations are simple and elegant cabanas with private bathrooms, open air showers and breathtaking views. The gourmet meals are vegetarian with the addition of local fish and seafood. The food is out of this world. The retreat is located outside the tiny fishing village of Sayulita, just 45 miles north of Puerto Vallarta.

Balance: Meeting Ourselves in the Midspace

Yoga Circle Studio
Snohomish, WA

Sunday, May 2, 1-4pm
$45

Balance is the meeting of effort and surrender, body and mind, stillness and movement. It is not a static place but an ever shifting dialogue between complimentary opposites. If we allow these forces to meet and play without forcing them to be still there is steadiness that naturally arises. This is the power of the midline. The balance poses we encounter on our yoga mat give us an opportunity to explore how to remain steadfast in the midst of movement and how to use action to engender deeper stillness. During this workshop we will explore balance poses of all kinds in order to meet ourselves and investigate the power of the midline of the body.
